GAME CHANGING INVESTMENT CHANGES THE SUNSHINE COAST

It is a defining moment for the Sunshine Coast as the winds of change pick up momentum and new investment pours into this major urban centre. The three (3) largest project totaled a capital expenditure of over $7Billion bring approx. 40,000 jobs with them!

The Sunshine Coast is Australia’s 4th largest non-capital city. Its population currently numbers 322,000* an increase of 27% since 2006, equal to more than 7,000 new residents annually. Just in the past 10 years the Sunshine Coast economy has doubled in size with 34,000 businesses driving a Gross Regional Product that is estimated to be in excess of $10 Billion.

DEMAND INTENSIFIES ON THE BACK OF ENORMOUS DEVELOPMENT

The Sunshine Coast’s regional growth has traditionally been fueled by a number of key drivers including:

Its strategic location in economically dynamic South East Queensland
Its quality lifestyle focused on ideal climatic conditions and diverse recreational activity
Its proximity to large population centres which makes it a favourite day trip and weekend destination
The construction of retail activities supported and promoted by tourism
These factors are still in place but now have been supplemented by a powerful new economic catalyst.

THE NEW $4 BILLION MAROOCHYDORE PRINCIPAL ACTIVITY CENTRE

The Maroochy City Centre “SunCentral” defines Maroochydore as the key regional centre of the Sunshine Coast, it’s the framework and the guide the city’s growth and has now seen new investment to meet the challenge of the rising population tide. The key components include commercial floor space, new retails floor space, a new Regional Arts and Entertainment Centre, Transit Plaza, Library, Public Amphitheatre, and Civic Plaza as well as residential housing.

HORTON PARK CBD EXTENSION

Council’s $42 Million acquisition of the Horton Golf Club paves the way to create a forward thinking commercial, retail and public space adjacent to Sunshine Plaza. This project has the potential to create thousands of jobs and new businesses that will provide a much needed boost to the local economy.

This development has begun construction and already major construction and improved major infrastructure has been developed and is in operation.

INFASTRUCTURE

SUNSHINE PLAZA EXTENSION: already constructed and operating
This is the Sunshine Coast’s largest retail shopping complex. This $350million expansion included a revitalised centre, extensive upgrade to the current large Myer store and the new David Jones Department store, plus extensive additional retail space.

OTHER INVESTMENTS

The $47 Million Transport Interchange is one of the region’s most important transport infrastructure initiatives.

Maroochy Homemaker Centre: this $110 million commercial development is now open with 36,000m2 of retail showrooms featuring a number of major showroom retailers.

Premium Automotive Showrooms – a number of premium brands have chosen Maroochy Boulevard as the location for their flagship dealerships – testament of their vision for the future.
